Commanded 1st East Yorks 1907-11, when retired. Recalled 1914, raised & commanded 10th (S) Bn. EYR (Hull Commercials) until Oct. 1915, then commanded 8th South Lancs. in France (DSO at Leipzig Redoubt, Somme, 1916). Rare locally produced personal memoirs of an interesting character.
